The new charging stations will be installed in cities and suburbs, and you will be able to use them from the beginning of next year. You’ll find them near grocery stores, retail stores, and entertainment complexes, with the idea that you can charge your electric vehicle while you’re shopping or having fun. Most stations will be able to charge four vehicles at a time and will have charging capacities of 100 to 350 kilowatts which GM says “will meet the needs of an increasingly powerful set of electric vehicles that will hit the market.”

GM is hoping this approach of installing stations in easily accessible locations will make EVs a more viable option for people who would not otherwise have easy access to charging stations. These include people who cannot install chargers in their rented homes or who do not have charging stations near their workplace.

“We’re moving quickly to bring new electric vehicles to market that customers will love,” said Mary Barra, GM president and CEO. “We know how important the charging ecosystem is to drivers, an ecosystem that includes access to convenient and reliable public fast charging. Our relationship with EVgo will strengthen the public fast-charging network available to EV customers ahead of growing market demand and strengthen our commitment to a fully electric, emissions-free future. “

GM has a number of electric vehicles on my way, including electric truck and SUV versions of the Hummer. The company also said that by 2030, most if not all Cadillacs manufactured will be electric vehicles.
